About Me

My name is Benjamin Heymans. I am an Infectious Disease specialist from Belgium who is on a quest to dig deeper into the world of infectious diseases. Starting from questions encountered in my daily practice, I look for the evidence behind the current practice and try to come up with the best available strategy moving forward.

 

Practicing infectious diseases often feels like magic to me with tools like antibiotics, anti-retroviral medication and vaccines. However, our current customs are often more influenced by how our mentors always did it than by real hard evidence. In this context, Infectious Digest was created: to collect the best data out there in attempt to inform your practice and move the practice of infectious diseases closer to a real science.
